about
My primary work role focusses on supporting teachers through resource development, scaffolded by a strong interest in tools and technology. I’m passionate about teaching and learning, especially lifelong learning and learning in the workplace = Hands on learning! I also spend a fair bit of time thinking about how teachers can enhance learning processes using some of the clever, social tools emerging in the new web.
My industry background was in the call centre industry, and that was where I moved into adult learning as an in-house trainer. Now I’m working in vocational education with a wider brief. Last year I completed a Flexible Learning Leader project (2004) and this year I am involved two LearnScope projects. Over 2002-2004 I completed a Graduate Diploma of Further Education and Training through the University of Southern Queensland. Since then I’ve been working on getting my ragged garden back into order. Mowing the lawns so that I can see the chickens when they are out was a first move!
Outside of work I spend time with my beautiful family, sailing, walking and camping to get out of the city. My photos often come from these activities. I live in Hobart, Tasmania, the southern, island state of Australia. We live in the suburbs, but look across our garden to a paddock with a few sheep. In late winter, black cockatoos come and live in the massive bluegums that are at the top of the valley. Their screeching reminds me that spring is coming as they hoon around the sky. It provides a contrast to the constant hum of computers in the house full of geeks!
